This project came to us through a referral from a pool company, with the customer needing a retaining wall installed to accommodate their new pool. The client faced drainage issues in their backyard and wanted a solution that would make the space more functional. After meeting with the homeowner and discussing their vision, we worked together to design a plan that not only addressed the immediate pool needs but also resolved the long-standing drainage issues, providing an incredible entertainment area for the client and their guests.
The design included a sturdy retaining wall to level the pool area and handle the slope that had been difficult for the client to maintain over the years. We also integrated a comprehensive drainage system to redirect water away from the new pool space, ensuring that the area would remain dry and usable.
We installed columns around the space, which provided support for new fencing and included built-in LED lighting for nighttime use. Electrical outlets were also installed in the columns, giving easy access to charge devices or plug in electronics while in the pool area.
We selected a large pre-manufactured concrete retaining wall block that met all the necessary engineering requirements for the wall’s height and gave the sleek, uniform look the client wanted. The materials were sourced from a local hardscape vendor, and the colors were chosen to complement the existing house and trim.
Throughout the project, we also addressed the property’s drainage issues by installing solid PVC pipes to connect downspouts and a sump pump line, directing the water away from the property and into a nearby drainage creek. The end result was a beautiful, functional outdoor pool space that exceeded the client’s expectations and provided more usable space than they thought possible.
